The diet sirtfood arrived in Portugal, coming directly from London, and is already giving that talk.

HOW DID THE DIET SIRFOOD?

Nutritionists at the british Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten, colleagues from the University of Surrey, welcomed the proposal to draw up a plan of food for one of the most prestigious gyms in london: the KX Gym, a facility which come out to help celebrities of the caliber of Madonna, Pippa Middleton or Daniel Craig.

The program can be followed by the members of the gym, through a weekly rate of approximately 1500 pounds.

After trying diet sirtfood with 40 members of the prestigious gymnasium, the authors were impressed with its effectiveness, because all have lost, on average, 3kg in just a week.

In an interview with the Times magazine, Aidan and Glen explained that the initial test had as objective to stimulate the rejuvenation and cell repair, so much so that the weight loss was also a surprise for them, because I never would have expected that to reach an average of 3kg in just a week.

The diet sirtfood can be found in the book published by Aiden and Glen: “The Stirfood Diet: The revolutionary plan for health and weight loss”, a success of sales in all bookstores in britain.

WHAT IS THE DIET?

The diet sirtfood is divided into two phases: a weight loss fast and other maintenance of the results.

One of the basic principles of the diet sirtfood is to ingest a large amount of “food sirt”, that is, foods that increase the activity of sirtuínas or SIRS (Silent Information Regulators).

The creators of the diet claim that these enzymes create, in the body, the same effect as fasting or exercise, accelerating the metabolism and promoting increased metabolism of accumulated fat. In addition, the sirtuínas also regulate other biological processes, such as aging, cell death and inflammation.

MORE FOOD USED

Here are some of the foods used in the diet sirtfood, by its effect in sirtuínas of the body:

  • Dark Chocolate, with a minimum percentage of 85% cocoa
  • Red wine
  • Blueberries
  • Arugula
  • Apple
  • Tofu
  • Buckwheat
  • Citrus
  • Salsa
  • Caper
  • Soja
  • Morango
  • Olive oil
  • Purple onion
  • Nuts
  • Cabbage
  • Coffee
  • Green tea
  • Tea matcha

PHASE 1

The first phase of the diet sirtfood lasts 7 days and is the phase more rigid.

During the first 3 days, you should follow a food plan of only 1000kcal, consisting of the juice detoxifying compounds by the foods advised (kale, arugula, apple, lemon…), tea, green tea and matcha. These days, it is possible to eat a main meal, similar to one of the 3 following options:

  • Steak of chicken with capers and parsley;
  • Chicken curry accompanied with cabbage;
  • Prawns sautéed with a mass of buckwheat.

From the 4th day, you can increase the energy intake to 1500kcal daily, distributed by the juices already referred to above, and two main meals as the preceding.

The participants of the study that gave rise to the diet, during the first week, gained or maintained muscle mass, without a plan of exercise too restrictive.

PHASE 2

Phase 2 of the deita sirtfood lasts 14 days and has the objective of keeping the results obtained in the first week and promote weight loss regular and sustainable.

Initially, the energy intake increases to three meals a day, and only one of the juices.

The past 15 days, the book only insists on keeping a supply where there is a strong presence of these foods. You can (and should!) gradually increase the energy intake of your day, giving always priority to the food referred to, but by eating other also. However, it is not adding a food “sirt”, as for example rucola, a pizza that will keep the weight off, as you might imagine.

The two phases of the diet can be repeated whenever you need to lose fat quickly.

PROS AND CONS OF THE DIET SIRTFOOD

PROS

It is obvious that it is simple to lose weight by eating only 1000kcal per day, for a week. However, the usual is that there is a loss of muscle mass, something that does not exist in this diet, where all the weight lost is in the form of fat and the participants not only maintained the muscle mass as some have even increased, without a training plan too demanding.

The maintenance of the muscle mass seems to be the biggest plus point of the diet, as well as the rapid loss of weight, which gives its followers a feeling of success and motivation.

In addition, the authors of the diet sirtfood reported some of the benefits associated with the action of the sirtuínas in respect of:

  • suppression of appetite;
  • improvements in the memory;
  • control of blood sugar levels;
  • reduction of free radicals accumulated in the body.

All these benefits lead to an anti-aging effect much sought after.

However, these benefits are not scientifically proven, being that there is no certainty that they exist truly.

CONS

The price is the first negative point of the diet, because to be accompanied by the nutritionists who have created it would have to spend an amount of€ 2,000 weekly.

In addition, the diet, although to defend that chocolate and wine may be ingested, it is not always so. As it was possible to verify, these foods should not be eaten in the 1st phase of the diet, and, in the 2nd phase, when they are added, should it be always in controlled quantities, and accompanied by a healthy and balanced diet.

Finally, as in all diet miraculous, comes the phase of “after”. In this “after”, it is already known that, if you go back to eating the same way you did before, the probability of increase of weight is very increased. Taking into account that this diet is short-term, it becomes much more likely to fall into the temptation of committing the mistakes that he made previously in an easier way. Soon, try to keep a balanced diet so your weight may not suffer yo-yo effect.

CONCLUSIONS

  • Any diet restrictive as the diet sirtfood will lead to a fast weight loss, however in most cases, the weight is retrieved with ease;
  • The diet sirtfood differs from the other by the weight loss does not negatively affect the muscle mass;
  • The food “sirt” are, without doubt, nutritional characteristics interesting, being that, if you do not have any type of contra-indication, you can add them to your diet;
  • Just add food “sirt” to your diet will not make you lose weight, and, for this, you need to always make an energy restriction;
  • A diet pre-fabricated that works the same way for all the use it is never a good option. Look for a registered dietitian to make a diet plan tailored to you and your goals and you will see that the results will be much more long-lasting.
